Dear Mr Davies,
I am Maria Fabiani, independent monitoring and evaluation consultant. I also teach methodology of research at Tor Vergata University in Rome and I am member of the European Evaluation Society. If you agree, I would like to translate the MSC Guide into Italian. I am aware that translation will be a voluntary work and the translation will be made available on your website to allow other people to make comments on the translation. Swahili translation

Hi all

I met Kirogo Mwangi, Regional M&E Specialist, for PATH, at a MSC training event in Leyden this week (organised by Results in Health).

Kirogo has offered to get a small team of people together to develop a Swahili translation of the MSC Guide. Many thanks to Kirogo!

Japanese translation

 LATEST NEWS (2013 10 09) The Japanese translation of the MSC Guide is now available here.
Many many thanks to Hiroshi and his team of volunteer translators for this work. I have copied his email received today here below: Note: The pdf file is a big 5mb.

I am Hiroshi TANAKA, Participatory Evaluation Facilitator.
I used to be engaged in rural development in Nepal for 10 years.
After that, I  completed master course of IDS, university of Sussex.
Then I become an evaluation experts for mainly NGO programs.
Also I am a member of the Japan Evaluation Society（JES）.

When I attended INTRAC evaluation conference last June in Netherlands,
I got to know Most Significant Change is very interesting and useful .
But this method is not yet popular in my country.

Now I have a plan to following English guide into Japanese language.
with a help of Dr. MINAMOTO Yuriko, a professor of Meiji University,
one of the leading universities in Japan. She is a board member of JES too.

I would be very happy if you 'd give me permission of the translation. And your
kind advices will be appreciated for the translation process if needed.

Although I and Dr. Minamoto are interested in MSC, there has been no support
for this work so far . So translation must be done by voluntary work.

Arabic translation

In an email dated 23 Feb 2012 Awny Amer from Egypt said:

"I'm writing this mail to let you informed that I'm in process now to start the translation of the MSC technique guide into Arabic language. It will be translated as part of the Evaluation & Research network association network in Egypt with the cooperation and support of UNICEF Egypt. So, I'm writing to you to get your Official permission before starting this process noting that all the copy rights including all the same information outlined in the original version developed on 2005. I just will add some of the MSC stories collected and selected in some of the above mentioned evaluations noting that some of them developed in Egypt, Lebanon, Jordan and Morroco with different INGOs as mentioned above."

 

Following a query re the addition of the new stories, Awny said " Regarding to your observation for the additional MSC stories examples, sure I'll develop in a separate annex to the translated document. I already was planning to do that. However, I can share you the English versions of these stories before translating it but this will be finally selected. I'm planning to attaching from 8-10 stories among the many MSC stories I have developed it during the different evaluations conducted as mentioned below. "
